Sylvac

SylvaC is the kind of pottery that rewards a second look. Made in Staffordshire by Shaw & Copestake, the company became beloved for its expressive animal figurines, nature-inspired designs, richly coloured glazes, vases, jugs and charming decorative pieces — objects created to bring personality into ordinary homes.

From the 1930s through to the 1960s, SylvaC produced some of its most memorable designs, including its famous dogs, rabbits and other characterful animals. The combination of sculptural modelling, tactile surface detail and distinctive green, brown, blue and cream glazes gives each piece a presence that feels entirely at home in a contemporary Australian interior. Production ended in 1982, making surviving examples increasingly appealing to collectors.
