Maling
Maling pottery brings colour, texture and a little theatricality to the English ceramic tradition. Made by C.T. Maling & Sons of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, the company became especially admired for its richly decorated wares, expressive floral designs, sculptural relief and beautifully handled glazes.
From the exuberant Peona with Butterflies pattern to the deep cobalt-blue Anemone display plaque, Maling pieces were made to be noticed. Lustrous finishes, tube-lined decoration, hand-painted flowers and strong Art Deco influence give these works a presence that feels just as striking in a contemporary Australian home as it did in a 1930s Newcastle sitting room.
