About Saji Fine China
Saji Fine China was produced in Japan during the mid-20th century for the export market, particularly to Western countries. These pieces showcase the Japanese interpretation of traditional Imari decoration - a style originally developed in the Arita region of Japan in the 17th century. The hand-painted decoration, quality porcelain, and attention to detail made Saji pieces highly desirable for discerning collectors and users alike.
The Imari Aesthetic
Imari-style decoration is characterized by its distinctive palette of cobalt blue underglaze, iron red overglaze enamel, and lavish gold accents. The intricate floral and geometric patterns create a rich, luxurious appearance that has remained popular for centuries. This set beautifully exemplifies the traditional Imari aesthetic with its balanced composition and meticulous hand-painted details.
