vintage-santa-claus-ceramic-christmas-bell-kitsch-collectable
Vintage Santa Claus Ceramic Christmas Bell | Kitsch Collectable, 17.5 cm

Christmas kitsch earns its place when it makes you smile year after year. With a wonderfully exaggerated red hat and a moulded cream beard, this vintage ceramic Santa bell brings a little retro theatre to the festive season.

The glossy candy-apple red hat rises above a softly blushed face, with a small painted holly accent at the rim. A considered addition to a Christmas mantelpiece, windowsill or a stack of favourite seasonal books, it is both a sculptural decoration and a working bell, with a ceramic clapper suspended inside on a copper wire loop.

Offered as a kitsch Christmas collectable, the bell has an unmarked base and its maker, country of manufacture and exact production date are unknown. Its appeal lies in the playful proportions, expressive face and festive character, rather than a confirmed pottery attribution.

Details

Maker: Unknown

Design: Figural Santa Claus Christmas bell

Era: Vintage; exact date unknown

Dimensions: 17.5 cm tall × 9.5 cm open base diameter

Weight: 200 g

Material: Ceramic

Colours: Glossy red, cream and coral-pink blush, with painted holly detail

Clapper: Intact ceramic clapper suspended on a copper wire loop

Markings: Unmarked base

Includes: One bell; original retail box not included

Condition

Excellent vintage condition with a bright, reflective high-gloss glaze.
